Our maps now include photo tags so that you can see exactly where trail features and scenic views are along the trail.
Also, we have a new feature that allows users to contribute their own gpx and tcx tracks. These tracks will
be overlayed onto the Google map on our Maps pages and can be shared and downloaded by users.
We have updated several of our park maps recently to reflect trail changes. Our
Freedom Park map now includes the new

The trails at
Poor Farm Park in Ashland have undergone some changes recently due to the addition of new ball fields.
Also, some trails have recently been added to the
Massanutten trail system. Please check out our maps

For more of a technical challenge, look for trails with lots of intermediate singletrack (blue) such as
Schaeffer Farms,
Poor Farm Park, and
Observatory Hill
If you are an expert mountain biker and are interested in riding in extremely technical terrain, then look for the red trails (advanced singletrack), for example,
Gambrill and
Elizabeth Furnace.
Whatever your preference and skill level, get out and enjoy those trails!.
The Virginia Tidewater area is becoming a popular mountain biking destination due to the efforts of
The Eastern Virginia Mountain Bike Association (EVMA) volunteers. EVMA has been gradually increasing the mileage of off-road trails in the area,
including the trails at
Freedom Park. Over the past couple of years, volunteers from EVMA
have been adding to the singletrack mileage and constructing lots of fun, challenging freestyle obstacles to the trail system there.
This is one of our favorite parks and we highly recommend a visit there.
Following is a list of terms that are commonly used in association with GPS Receivers.

These "rules of the trail" were written by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA). They are widely recognized as a standard set of rules for the sport of mountain biking.
We encourage you to abide by these rules. Remember that the more responsible each of us is on the trail, the better the image of off-road cycling becomes. The acceptance of our sport will ensure the support of our local communities and, in turn give us access to many great state and local parks.
Geocaching is a relatively new sport - it has only been around since 2000. The game is centered around using a GPS receiver to find a hidden "treasure", or cache, as it is known in the geocaching community. Anyone can hide a cache and then post the coordinates on various websites dedicated to the sport.
