Fountainhead Regional Park Description
Fountainhead is a popular mountain biking and trail running destination in the DC area and is
the trailhead for the popular Bull Run-Occoquan hiking/equestrian trail.
The dedicated mountain bike trail is a 10 mile loop packed with steep climbs and fun descents. The Mid Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts (MORE) have
been working hard on improving the mountain bike trail system in the park. The sections that have been added and improved upon so far (as of May 2012)
are a great addition to the park. The trails are smooth and flowing with lots of banked turns. Fountainhead has been one of our favorite places
to ride and the new additions make it even more fun! To get updates on the trail work that is being done, visit
The Fountainhead Trail Project's website.
Note: This mountain bike trail is directional.
Note: Thanks to need4gforce for contributing gpx tracks of the new & improved sections of trail and for the "Catching Air" photos (#32 and #33 in the Photo Gallery)!
